Description

1/10 oz American Platinum Eagle Coin NGC MS69 (Random Year)

The American Platinum Eagle is the official platinum bullion coin of the United States, and is part of the larger American Eagle series from the United States Mint that includes the popular Silver Eagle and Gold Eagle. The Platinum Eagle offers greater variety at times, with fractionalweight coins available in the past. Right now, 1/10 oz American Platinum Eagle Coins are available in certified condition.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives in a protective plastic slab from the NGC.
  • Available from years 1997 to 2008!
  • Contains 1/10 Troy oz of .9995 pure platinum.
  • Bears a face value of $10 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • Issued a grade of Mint State 69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Obverse features the image of Liberty.
  • Reverse includes the Eagle Soaring Over America.

Each of the 1/10 oz American Platinum Eagle coins in this product listing has a Mint State 69 grade from the NGC. Coins with this certification are considered near-perfect, and include full, original mint luster. These coins also feature a maximum of two minor detracting flaws, such as miniscule hairlines or contact marks. All flaws are found outside the primary focal areas of the coin.

The 1/10 oz American Platinum Eagles here are from various years of production. The 1/10 oz American Platinum Eagle is no longer available from the US Mint in bullion, but was offered between 1997 and 2008. The specific year of issue for the 1/10 oz American Platinum Eagle you receive from this listing cannot be reserved and will depend upon availability at the time of order.

American Platinum Eagle bullion coins have the same obverse and reverse design fields every year. Former US Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti designed the obverse in 1997, while Thomas D. Rogers created the reverse design used on all bullion coins. Rogers was, at the time, an Assistant Engraver with the US Mint.

On the obverse of the 1/10 oz American Platinum Eagle coin is the image of Liberty gazing into the future. It is based upon her image as found on the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, and focuses on her facial features only rather than her full figure.

The reverse of all 1/10 oz American Platinum Eagle coins features the design of an American bald eagle soaring over America. It features an eagle with wings spread wide as it glides over the continent, with the sun rising into the sky in the background.
