Instead, it plucks images from the real world to capture Liberty and the American bald eagle. Right now, 2020 1 oz American Platinum Eagle Coins are available to you online for immediate purchase.

The American Platinum Eagle does not use historic US coin designs, but rather relies on fresh designs that were created for the US Mint in 1997. John Mercanti, who would later go on to serve as the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint from 2006 to 2010, created the facial design of the Statue of Liberty for the obverse. Thomas D. Rogers, a US Mint Artist-Engraver, developed the image of the American bald eagle soaring on the reverse.
On the obverse of all 2020 1 oz American Platinum Eagles is the image of the Statue of Liberty’s face. She is depicted here with her crown visible in the design field and her arm raising the torch out of view of the design field. The word “Liberty” is engraved above with “In God We Trust” engraved below the “2020” date mark.
The reverse of 2020 American Platinum Eagles features the design of an American bald eagle. Known simply as “Soaring Eagle over America,” the design depicts a bald eagle with its talons tucked up against its body as its wings are spread to full as it soars over the nation. The sun is depicted cresting the horizon in the distant background as its warming rays reach out to the world.
All American Platinum Eagle Coins are produced by the United States Mint at the West Point Mint facility, but these bullion versions of the Platinum Eagle do not feature any mint marks.
