Silver Libertad coins debuted from the Mexican Mint in 1982 with only a 1 oz silver coin. This was the sole option in the series from 1982 to 1990. In 1991, the mint expanded the series for the first time with the introduction of four fractional–ounce coins: 1/20, 1/10, 1/4, and 1/2 oz silver. The next round of expansions would see larger coins join the series.
These larger coins included, first, the 2 oz and 5 oz coins in 1996. By 2008, the Mexican Mint added the last of the large coins in the form of the 1 Kilo Silver Libertad. This has often been one of, if not the lowest minted coins in the series.
Obverse imagery on the 2016 1 Kilo Mexican Silver Libertad Coins includes the image of Winged Victory. Her figure is based on the ancient goddess Victoria who was honored by victorious war generals upon their return. In this design, she holds up a crown wreath in one hand while clutching broken chains in the other.
Reverse designs for the 2016 1 Kilo Mexican Silver Libertad Coins feature 11 different versions of the Mexican coat of arms. The most important one to note is the large one in the center which is the modern version of the seal. This emblem features a Mexican golden eagle battling a snake from its perch on a cactus.
These 2016 1 Kilo Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are available to you today in perfect condition. Coins with a Mint State 70 certification showcase full, original mint luster and have no detracting flaws of any kind present on the design elements or surface areas.
