  • Struck in a brilliant Proof finish.

Chinese Silver Panda coins are the official silver bullion coin of the People’s Republic of China. These coins have been produced on an annual basis since 1983, with a one-year halt in production taking place in 1986. Although the program started with just a 1 oz coin struck in a bullion version, today the series includes bullion and proof coins, with weights ranging from ¼ oz to 1 kilogram.

On the obverse side of each of these 2015 1 Kilo Proof Chinese Silver Panda coins is the image of the Temple of Heaven. Located in the center of one of Beijing’s southern neighborhoods, the temple was constructed hundreds of years ago as an altar for sacrifices and prayer. Engravings include the year of minting and the phrase “People’s Republic of China,” written in Mandarin Chinese.

The reverse side of the coin shows a large panda bear as it sits eating a plant. Behind the bear is a bamboo wall, with the simple engraving of the face value of the coin and the Chinese symbol for panda. The image of the panda bear is different on each year’s Chinese Silver Panda coin, and 2015 is no exception.

All Chinese Silver Panda coins are struck with permission of the People’s Bank of China, though it is difficult to determine which of the country’s mints produce specific coins because there are no mint marks on coins in this series.
