This 1986-2021 Silver Eagle Set is the first of its kind to feature two different types of American Silver Eagles. In 2021, the US Mint introduced an all-new reverse design on the Type 2 coins. This element was created by Emily Damstra and submitted to the US Mint through the Artistic Infusion Program.
The obverse of all American Silver Eagles in this 37-Coin Set comes with the image of Walking Liberty. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this effigy of Liberty captures her full-length figure with her right hand reaching for the sun on the horizon and her left hand carrying the branches of oak and laurel. The sun is depicted rising on the horizon.
On the reverse of coins in the 1986-2021 American Silver Eagle 37-Coin Set, you will find one of two designs. The 1986 coins through the 2021 Type 1 coin features the image of the heraldic eagle of the United States from John Mercanti. The 2021 Type 2 coin comes with the new image of a bald eagle soaring downward with a large oak branch in its talons.
