That was followed by two design annually in 2017 and 2018 with the designs of the Griffin of Edward III, Red Dragon of Wales, Unicorn of Scotland, and the Black Bull of Clarence. The proof coins debuted in 2017 but followed a slightly different release schedule that included the Lion, Unicorn, Red Dragon of Wales, and Black Bull.

On the reverse of the Proof British Silver Queen’s Beast Dragon Coin is the design of the Red Dragon of Wales. Named the official emblem of Wales in 1959 by Queen Elizabeth II, the Red Dragon of Wales design included here features the quartered shield from the royal arms of Llewelyn ap Griffith. The last native prince of Wales used a single leopard in each of the four quarters.

The obverse of the 2018 10 oz Proof British Silver Queen’s Beast Dragon Coins bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is depicted here in a fifth-generation right-profile portrait created in 2015 by Jody Clark of the Royal Mint. It depicts the Queen at the age of 89.
