The United States Mint holds the American Palladium Eagle mintage figures low and that has proven to support intense demand for the coins. The 2017 and 2018 releases both had mintage figures of 15,000, while these 2019 coins had a mintage double that of 30,000 coins. The 2019 marks the first-ever release of a reverse-proof coin in this collection.
All 2019-W 1 oz American Palladium Eagle Reverse Proof Coins in this product listing earned perfect certifications from the PCGS. Coins with a PR70 grade have full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws of any kind on the design elements or surface areas. The First Day of Issue label denotes these coins were received by the PCGS within the first 24 hours of the US Mint’s release of the 2019 Palladium Eagle.
On the obverse of 2019 American Palladium Eagle Reverse Proof coins is the design known as Winged Liberty. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this image was on the circulation dime from 1916 to 1945 and was known as the Mercury Dime. The Winged Liberty design was colloquially known as the Mercury Dime because the Phrygian cap with wings that Liberty wears is reminiscent of the Roman messenger god, Mercury.
The reverse of 2019-W American Palladium Eagle Reverse Proof coin includes the design of an American bald eagle perched on a cliff edge as it clutches a branch in its talons. These reverse proof coins have mirrored, clear design elements and frosted background fields. All American Palladium Eagles have “W” mint marks from the West Point Mint on the obverse.
