In 1983, the first Chinese Silver Panda coins were issued by the Chinese Mint. From 1983 to 1985, and again in 1987, the mint issued the Silver Panda only as a proof specimen. There was no BU version of the Silver Panda issued until 1989. Since that time, BU and Proof coins have been issued every year, with the 1 Kilo Chinese Silver Panda representing the largest coin in the series.

The 1 Kilo Proof Silver Panda comes with a presentation box from the mint and a Certificate of Authenticity. The proof specimens have frosted designs with mirrored background fields. The 2022 issue is the 40th-anniversary release in the series and includes a special privy mark on the obverse of the coins. This privy mark includes the digits 40 with a panda emerging from the zero in the number 40.

On the obverse side of 2022 Chinese Silver Panda Coins, you will find the image of two Giant Pandas. The two pandas shown here are enjoying a day playing in the snow. While one slides down the snowy hill on its stomach, headfirst, the other comes down the hill on its back with all four feet in the air.

The reverse face of 2022 1 Kilo Silver Panda Coins comes with the same image that has always featured on the coins in this series. It depicts the exterior facade of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This building is the primary structure in the Temple of Heaven Complex and was built between 1406 and 1420.
