The paper notes of the Federal Reserve Note series debuted in the United States in 1914. At this point in US history, there were more than five forms of paper money in circulation that included the US Note, Silver Certificates, Gold Certificates, National Bank Notes, and Federal Reserve Bank Notes. In the 1918 Series, the Federal Reserve Note gained a $500 denomination alongside three other high-value notes. Today, 1934 $500 Federal Reserve Notes with PMG certification are available to you online for immediate purchase.
Note Highlights:
- Available to you in a protective plastic sleeve courtesy of the PMG!
- Issued in the 1934 Series redesign!
- Removed from circulation in 1969!
- The face value of $500 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
- Graded Very Fine 30 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
- On the obverse is President William McKinley.
- The reverse side features the denomination of the note.
- Please bear in mind it is possible to receive notes with matching or varied Federal Reserve Bank district seals on the obverse.
The $500 denomination in the Federal Reserve Note Series is the fourth-highest denomination ever issued. The 1918 Series expanded on the 1914 introduction of the Federal Reserve Note with the introduction of $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 notes alongside the $500 note. In 1934, all four of these denominations were redesigned for the final time.
All of the 1934 $500 Federal Reserve Notes are offered to you in Very Fine 30 condition. Notes in this condition have signs of light circulation handling and light soiling. More importantly, notes with this grade have seven to 10 fold lines only. Each one of the notes comes inside of a protective plastic currency sleeve from the PMG.
On the obverse of 1934 $500 Federal Reserve Notes is a depiction of President William McKinley. President McKinley was the last US President elected to office who had served in the US Civil War. Fighting for the Union, McKinley entered the war as an enlisted soldier and finished the war as a brevet major.
The reverse field of 1934 $500 Federal Reserve Notes comes with a plain design field. This side of the note features only notations of the nation of issue and face value of the note. Prior to the 1934 Series redesign, the notes had featured an effigy of John Marshall on the obverse and a vignette of Desoto discovering the Mississippi on the reverse.
