Description
1 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle Coin (Box & CoA, Random Year)
The American Platinum Eagle coin from the United States Mint is unique among all of its bullion counterparts at the mint. Neither the Silver Eagle nor Gold Eagle, or even the Gold Buffalo, boast what the Proof American Platinum Eagle Coin does in its design. The reverse side of these coins changes annually, making it the only bullion program from the mint to do so. Today, 1 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle Coins are available to you online for immediate purchase.

Proof American Platinum Eagle coins have been issued by the United States Mint in every year since the 1997 debut of the coin series. While the bullion Platinum Eagles suffered a halt in production from 2009 to 2013, and again in 2015, the Proof Platinum Eagles continued on with low mintage figures and exquisite designs on the reverse face.
In this product listing, you are purchasing a 1 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle Coin from random years of availability. The coins arrive inside the original government packaging just as they were sent form the US mint. The likelihood of receiving a given year of issue and specific reverse design is dependent upon mintage figures for each year. The highest mintage years were 1997 (20,851), 1998 (14,912), and 2011 (14,790).
Proof American Platinum Eagle coins have different reverse designs depending upon the year of issue you receive with your purchase today. Many of the designs fell into a themed range. Examples of these include the Vistas of Liberty designs from 1998 to 2002, the Foundations of Democracy designs from 2006 to 2008, and the Preamble to the United States Constitution from 2009 to 2014.
On the reverse of these 1 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle coins, you’ll find one of the many possible designs used by the United States Mint since 1997. During the program’s history, only the original design of the eagle soaring above America from Thomas D. Rogers was issued twice in the proof range. The common bullion reverse, this design appeared on the Proof Platinum Eagle in 1997’s debut issue and again on the 2017 coin in honor of the coin’s 20th anniversary.
The obverse of the Proof American Platinum Eagle coin offers a steadier design theme. The image of the Statue of Liberty’s face is focused upon in this design. It was created for the collection in 1997 by John Mercanti of the United States Mint. The specific 1 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle coin you receive in this listing will depend upon availability when your order is processed for shipping.
